His prices are very competitive. For our house, he submitted two proposals—one for an interior installation (more expensive) and one for an exterior installation (less expensive). His interior price was less than the competitor’s exterior price.

He made sure that all of the EPA requirements were met. After installing the system, he measured the radon level and it went down to 0.9 pCi/L, well below the EPA threshold of 4 pCi/L. An independent test done a few days later showed an even lower 0.7 pCi/L.

I wanted to thank you for the fine job you did installing a system that significantly reduced our Radon readings.

As you might recall, I had heard several public announcements about the potential hazards of radon. Late in 2007, I had called the state to learn more. I ordered two radon detection kits from the Utah state web site at www.utahsafetycouncil.org. The state told me that their kits were simple to use, were reasonably accurate and cost between $10 and $12 each. The reason I ordered two kits was because the state said that if there is an initial high reading, they almost always suggest a second test.

The first test results came back with a reading of 13. I am not sure just what that meant, however, the state said they suggest potential health problem issues if readings are above 4.0. We then ran the second test kit, leaving it in place for a few days longer than the first test. It came back with a reading of 23.

We then had you install your system and you also left an electronic radon monitoring machine which supposedly does a more accurate test than those from the state. After installation, the reading on your monitor showed a level of .5 (less than one and certainly much better than the 13 and 23 we had previously experienced).

We decided to use the state method a third time to see if the state test kit showed similar improvements. That test actually came back with a reading of .4.

Again, thank you for your help and efficient one day installation. In addition to the system doing the job, you also were very good about cleaning up and being sensitive to the entire process.

When my home was for sale earlier this year, I was surprised to find out during the course of the buyer’s home inspection that my home had a radon problem. I didn’t even know what radon was, but a bit of research really opened my eyes. I spoke recently with Bob Hoaglin on the phone about a high radon level in my home. I found him to be both polite and knowledgeable. Expecting a significant wait, he informed me that he could come evaluate my situation that very day, when it was convenient for me, and provide me with a free estimate. Bob is personable and friendly, and one can tell right away that he has been doing this for a long time. He is also one of very few in the state of Utah to have the most comprehensive and official license. He provided me with an estimate which was actually below what I was expecting and educated me about the problem and various options for dealing with it.

Two days later he and his helper, Doug were on the job. He arrived when he said he would and the job only took about five or six hours. I trusted him in my home and was content with his service and demeanor. His work looked solid and he doesn’t skimp on parts or safety where others might. Everything looks like it is to state code. When the work was complete, he had me inspect everything with him and spent a lot of time answering my questions. He was very honest in his evaluation and predictions and things looked better than I expected they might have. Everything was very professional and no corners were cut for his own cost or time. The work is solid and I expect it to last a long time.

The bottom line is that my initial radon test showed a level of 4.0 and Bob brought it down to 1.0. I expect this level to decrease even further once I do some more minor sealing in the basement. I am happy with what I spent and confident in the person who did it. I would certainly request Bob’s services again and I recommend him whole-heartedly.
